The biggest advantage of USB C is the fact that it can be enabled with Thunderbolt 3, a connection standard that allows for speeds upwards of 40Gbps. This allows for the connection of an external GPU, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB 3.1 hub, and 2 1080p monitors, as well as power for all but the external GPU, with only 1 port total. USB C is also capable of carrying much more power than USB A, even up to 100 Watts. The final advantage is that USB C is reversible. While reversibility isn’t essential, it makes it much easier to plug in.
